Bjorn's birthday, laptop shopping, and tour around Santiago

It was fun to be able to help Bjorn celebrate his birthday yesterday!

We all went out in the morning to do some laptop shopping. Here in Mexico, they do a thing similar to Black Friday that starts the weekend before Dia de la Revolucion (Revolution Day), so there are a lot of sales on.

We finally found the laptop I was looking for at Coppel. They got the bill all made up, but when we went to pay, their machine wouldn't accept my credit card. We tried with Ruth's card as well, but same problem. It wasn't being declined, it just said that it couldn't communicate.

So we didn't get it. When we got back to Chris and Juan's place, I looked it up on Amazon Mexico, and they had it for 9,350 pesos ($648 CAD, $460 USD) which was actually 150 pesos less than the one at Coppel.

So I ordered it. But then my account was flagged due to "unusual activity" and I had to send in documents to verify my account. So my complete Amazon account is closed until that happens, and they said it could take up to 24 hours! Arrrrrg!

It's a good thing I'm not a drinking man.

They still have their old FunFinder travel trailer.

Happy 41st Birthday Bjorn!

Herbie the Love Bug is retired and living in Mexico!

Ruth and Kevin with Emiliano Zapata.

Santiago is a Pueblo Magico.

They still have Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) decorations up.

There was a wedding going on at the church.

Yes, she's an angel!

A ray of sunshine coming down.

We booked a nice birthday dinner out for Bjorn at a fancy seafood restaurant.

Salut!
Freya, Bjorn, Juan, Chris, Kevin, Ruth.

I had Puerto Rico Shrimp. Coated with coconut, and served with mango sauce.

Ruth had bacon wrapped shrimp.

We all enjoyed our meals, and we were stuffed. We each had a drink, and even with some fancy cocktails the bill came to 2,874 pesos ($200 CAD, $140 USD) for the six of us. Not bad for a higher end place!

Happy Birthday Bjorn!

No, you can't blow it out!

Today, we'll spend some time puttering around on things here at the house and getting ready to drop off Bjorn and Freya at the bus station tomorrow. They are headed back to Laredo, Texas as their flight leaves from Houston on Monday. We'll probably head out in Igor tomorrow as well.
