Friends from the Mexico RV caravan

The other day, I noticed through a facebook post that a couple of our Mexico RV Caravan friends were going to be arriving in Ottawa.

Michel and Louise were on our spring 2018 Yucatan caravan trip. They are the couple who took over when Sherman broke down and we had to gets some repairs done.

We bumped into them again in Mexico the following year, and then again in September of 2022 when they were about to embark on the adventure of living in Ecuador!

Michel's parents live in Orleans (a suburb of Ottawa) and they were flying up for a visit. Just a coincidence that we happen to be here at the same time, so I sent them a note asking if they want to get together, and we quickly agreed to a lunch out yesterday.

Michel, Louise, Ruth, Kevin.

So, last time we saw them, they were about to move to Cuenca, Ecuador. Now, they have been there for two years and loving it. A lot of American expats end up in Cuenca because Ecuador uses the U.S. dollar, it has a great climate, and a large expat community. They are loving the lifestyle there, have now received their permanent residency, and have no plans to return to Canada. So, great to spend a couple of hours together, and hopefully next time we see them it will be in Ecuador!

Oh, I forgot to tell you about our Halloween experience here at the house sit. We had been told by the hosts that they normally receive a few kids despite the fact that we have a long dark driveway and are well off the road. They told us that if we wanted to, we could set up some Halloween decorations and they had even left some treats to give out.

We set up a couple of inflatable ghosts, and a cheesy light up pumpkin.

The ghosts even lit up at night!

Here come the trick or treaters!

Some great costumes!

We weren't counting, but probably ended up with 20-30 kids. Two of the groups were quite large though, so we didn't really get that many knocks on the door!

Lots of leftover treats!

And in Canada...
