The caravan showed up!

We had a nice morning just puttering around. Ruth was going to do some laundry, and we both remember that there had been an old washing machine in the RV Park area, but maybe we were thinking of somewhere else. Anyhow, there is no washing machine here now!

The hotel wanted typical rip off prices to do any laundry, but I don't really blame them. They aren't in the business of doing laundry, so if you want it done, you have to pay.

Or, you do it yourself...

We carry around one of those plunger style washing machines!

And, we have a little friend. This puppy came by looking more than a little hungry, and Ruth gave him some treats. Now, he's our best friend, although we know we can't take him with us. The thought actually crossed my mind for a split second. But it's just not a good idea for our lifestyle.

He's such a cutie.

Around 2:00pm, the RV Caravan showed up. Run by the same company that hired us to lead a group around Yucatan in the first three months of 2018. In fact, we even know the lady running this one.

Their ten rigs quickly filled the place up, but we didn't have to move.

Later in the afternoon, we went for a walk to central Matehuala. There's not really much to see here, but it was interesting just wandering around a typical non touristy town.

The cathedral was built between 1941 and 1997, but I don't think it was ever totally finished.
They are still working on the bell towers.

The Cathedral is fairly plain inside.

But the stained glass is bright.

Scenery along the way.

We stopped and had a popsicle. There is a popular ice cream chain here in Mexico called La Michoacana and they sell many varieties of "paletas" (popsicles). I had a strawberry cream, and Ruth had a coconut cream. They cost 25 pesos ($1.70 CAD, $1.25 USD) each, which, as expected, is definitely more than they used to be. Everything is more expensive. It's definitely not as cheap as it used to be when we started coming here 17 years ago. Still, it's far cheaper than Canada!

I thought this church is more attractive than the cathedral.

Looking back at the cathedral.

We stopped and picked up a few groceries at the big Soriana store here, and we forgot Ruth's little backpack bag at the bag check as you enter the store. We'll have to pick it up on our way out of town this morning.
