And in total, we were in 15 different countries during the year. Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Turkiye, France, England, Albania, Italy, Portugal, Canada, and Mexico. Several of these were new countries, and we have increased our total countries visited count to 72.
We were also in 23 different airplanes! That's a record for us... the previous record was 21 flights in 2019.

Some random flight statistics... we spent a total of 59 hours in the air. That's two and a half days! And who knows how many days spent waiting in airports. We flew a total of 39,580 kms (24,595 miles).
Here are some highlights of the year...!
We climbed Machinchang Peak on Langkawi Island, Malaysia.
We visited the ancient temples at Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
We spent a fun and interesting day learning about Cambodia's elephants.
We made it to the Maldives!
We enjoyed two very full days in Paris with daughter Lindsey and granddaughter Sadie.
Then three weeks in England.
We always have a great time with Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony.
Our June hiking trip to the Albanian Alps was definitely a highlight!

Back in Canada at the end of June, we bought Igor... a 1993 Airstream B190.
We had the whole family together in Nova Scotia.
We went deep sea fishing off the coast of Nova Scotia.
I always enjoy my annual weekend away with my guy friends.
We flew out to Calgary and spent five days hiking in the mountains with my sister Alison.
We had a fantastic few days with Chris, Juan, Bjorn, and Freya in Santiago, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
With friends Dave and Helene in Mexico City.
And of course we were so happy to be back in Valle de Bravo with friends Paco and Oti!
And then we finished off the year in Playa del Carmen, Mexico with
Cameron, Sadie, and Lindsey.
What a fantastic year we had!

ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a great year. We look back at it and can't believe all the things that we did and places that we saw, it was amazing.
DeleteWe are also looking forward to Central America, other than a couple weeks in Guatemala, it will all be new territory to us. Next year should be an interesting year for us.
And don't forget the thousands of loyal couch potatoes who follow you daily. Keep on doing what you guys do and we will follow along.

DeleteWe don't see ourselves stopping any time soon so you can we be sure that we will keep on traveling and exploring and bringing those stories to you. I think we are going to have a very interesting year ahead of us.
