A sad day in the RV blogging world

When we started writing this blog many years ago, there were several other RV'ers also writing blogs. And although we were among the first, having began in 2007, there was one other RV blog that began the year before us... Al and Kelly from The Bayfield Bunch.

It was most common for these RV bloggers to use the same Blogger platform that we do, and many of them had read each others blogs, so it was easy to follow each others travels and sometimes even meet up when the routes crossed.

And in January of 2015, some of these bloggers organized a Bloggerfest meet up out in the desert at Quartzsite, Arizona. Many of the RV'ing bloggers attended, including us and Al and Kelly.

Ruth, Kevin, Al, and Kelly.

Surprisingly, this was the only time over the years that we actually met them.

Al and Kelly went through several different RV's, and even had a stint in a house that they bought in Arizona because they loved the area so much. It was an interesting story to follow, until they eventually hung up the keys and settled down for retired life near Bayfield, Ontario. Their blog has since focused on Al's love of photography, and life around Bayfield.

We had been overseas when we were looking at buying Igor this past June. And Bayfield was only an hour or so from where Igor was located at the time. So I sent Kelly a note asking of she and Al would go look at him for us. And they did! They sent a detailed report and lots of photos that were really helpful is making a purchase decision.

Unfortunately, Kelly has battled liver disease for the last several years, and passed away yesterday. It's a sad day in the RV blogging world, and we send our condolences to Al, and their families.

Hopefully Al will have the courage to continue his blog and photography that so many enjoy. It's going to be tough for him to continue alone, but we join the RV'ing community in wishing him the best going forward.

  1. We never met them, but I read their blog on occasion and their contributions on social media. Very sad and yes let's hope Al will continue his work that he enjoys so much.
