Another beautiful day in Mexico...

Just a relaxing day yesterday!

Friends Paco and Oti took off back to their house in Toluca, but they will return here on Friday. Really nice that they left out their sun loungers and hammock so that we can use them while they're gone!

The only exercise we got was a short walk down to the waterfront...

Just another beautiful day in Mexico!

A couple of young guys doing some fishing.

I had bought a short HDMI cable to try to get the data off my old laptop, but I hadn't done enough research. It turns out that the HDMI port on most laptops is output only... which means I can't connect the two of them together that way. I need to use a separate monitor. I think that our host Chago has one in his office, so I'll ask if I can do that next time I see him in there.

We played a few games of backgammon and a game of cribbage. There will be more of that today!

We do have to get on some chores though at some point. Igor needs an oil and filter change, so I need to go out and buy the materials to do that. .

And there is some kind of a problem with our new solar panels. Down here closer to the equator in full sun, they should be putting out almost 5 amps each, but one is reading 3.6, and the other is only 2.0 amps. I've contacted the company and they've given me some tests to do, but I think the bottom line is that I got at least one dud. We'll see what will come of that.

We noticed the other day that around 6:00pm the mosquitoes come out. We don't remember ever having a mosquito problem here. There are none during the day, but they are quite fierce between 6 and 7pm. But only for about an hour to an hour and a half... then they seem to disappear again.

Yes, you want to stay in the motorhome during this time!

The little buggers!

Fortunately, they don't seem able to make their way into Igor.

Had a nice phone call with my mother yesterday evening. Speaking of which, when we were here in January of 2020, we had met the mother of our host Chago. She had just turned 98 years old. Yesterday, we heard that he went to visit his mother... who will turn 103 this month!!

  1. Ugh, mosquitoes! That is one thing I don't miss about the tropics...not that you are in the tropics, but in most marine environments, they can get bad at dusk, dawn, and sometimes in between. I'm thinking you need a USB cable to port files to your new laptop. HDMI is for audio/video transmission. Good luck with it!

    1. Yep, mosquitoes are horrible things and they really love Kevin. The only time they ever seemed to bother us in the past was when we were by the coast, this is the first time that they have bothered us here in Valle de Bravo that we can remember.

I had already suggested a USB cable as well but Kevin said for that to work you need a working monitor. Hopefully Kevin can use Chago's monitor to do the transfer otherwise the only other options are to buy a hard drive reader or pay someone to do the transfer. He was just trying to save us some money by not buying a hard drive reader and we know that it wouldn't cost a lot to get someone to do the transfer but he would prefer to do the transfer himself.
