However this time, we got to the path that leads off the road and there is now a locked gate. We spoke to a local guy, and he suggested a different route that led up to a quartz quarry.
Starting to get a view...
Another blue sky day!
It was actually a little bit hazy compared to normal.
Ruth, enjoying the view.
Me!
We went back down and then through El Arco.
This place likes their flowers.
Another view of the lake.
Back at Igor, we puttered around for the afternoon. Ruth did some laundry, and I gave Igor a sponge bath!
These two like to hang out with us!
Buzzing around above us.
Valle de Bravo is a popular paragliding area. A spin off of that is these powered paragliders that can actually take off from ground level. While it looks like a lot of fun, they also make a lot of noise.
Some clouds moved in late afternoon, and that actually made the sunset a bit more scenic. It's amazing how much it changes in a short amount of time. The following photos were taken about five minutes apart...
Ruth made chocolate chip cookies in the evening!

And in Canada...
Beautiful views! I remember you two riding bikes in Valle de Bravo on the bike path there. I wish we could have gotten there to do the same...maybe someday. Looks like a place we would really like, except for maybe the noisy paragliders.
ReplyDeleteThe views really are beautiful here, especially if you can find trails that lead up higher.
DeleteI think you may have mixed up your places because Valle de Bravo does not have a bike path, we won't even walk along the main road going into the town itself because the road is busy and than has no sidewalks. I think we biked once the whole time we have visited this area and that was along the road where but again it is just along the road.
Too bad you never made it here because it is a lovely place to visit. Yeah the ultralights are noisy for sure.
Oh, that's interesting! I wonder where I am thinking of, then? Some place in central Mexico where you two rode bikes on a long paved path. I thought for sure it was Valle de Bravo. Hopefully you can remind me of the place I am remembering?
DeleteThe only place I can think of is Etzatlan. It has a nice long bicycle trail that we have rode on a few times in the past. This is one of our posts of a ride so maybe this will jog your memory. www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2016/03/another-good-day-in-mexico.html
DeleteYES! That's it. Thanks so much for digging up this post, Ruth. Not sure why I had this mixed up in my mind with VDB, but this was definitely the bike path I so admired. :)
DeleteNo problem, I thought maybe this was the one. We have biked on it a few times. We will be back there again sometime in the new year but this time we won't have bicycles! 😢
DeleteGreat sunset! Yep, those paragliders are noisy. It's the new thing in Santiago, they start at 8 a.m. on Saturdays.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, we always get beautiful sunsets here but some are just more beautiful than others.
DeleteThese guys that are flying over us are actually ultralights not paragliders. paragliding is actually noiseless as they don't have a motor and these guys sure do and you are right, they are noisy. They must have to wear some kind of ear protection to prevent hearing loss from the moise, being so close to it.
