Well that was a fun day!

Market day is Sunday in Valle de Bravo, but just for a change we decided that we would go to the Saturday market in the town of Colorines, about 16 kms (10 miles) away.

We have to take the collectivo (shared taxi) to get there, and it costs 25 pesos ($1.75 CAD, $1.25 USD) per person each way.

Colorines was a busy little town because there was some kind of political thing going on at the football stadium. And market day on top of that.

This shrine is well decorated.

And they have a nice big tree in the central plaza.

View of the town of Colorines.

There is a small reservoir above the town.

We wandered around for an hour, and then found a taco stand and had lunch. Delicious! I had two tacos, and it was almost too much because they put so much topping on them, and they actually give you two tortillas under each one. You then pick up the one tortilla with the topping, but it's so full that half of it spills out onto the second tortilla... so when you order two tacos, you actually end up with four of them!

Then we did our fruit and vegetable shopping for the week, and took the collectivo back to the marina.

There was a fiesta planned for mid afternoon, with more food! Our friends Paco and Oti, plus quite of few of the others who keep travel trailers here at the marina. We've met most of them at some point over the years, but rarely have they all been here at the same time.

The food is ready!

Our host Chago, who owns the marina.

The group. There were 16 of us.

Dessert!

Ruth ended up with a late birthday celebration!

These types of get togethers are really good for practicing our Spanish. In the whole group, there was only one guy who speaks half decent English, and our friend Paco speaks a little as well. We know that our Spanish is far from perfect, and we often don't get the past and present tenses correct, but everybody is really patient with us. We know a lot of words, we just can't string them together into a perfect sentence! But, considering we've never taken any lessons, we actually do quite well. Our plan at some point over the next year is to take some intensive lessons.

Front row: Anita, Ruth, Kevin, Vanessa
Back row: Magali, Blanquita, Chago, Anita, Oti, Yvette.

Paco and Oti have been taking dancing lessons.

They gave us a little show!

We had a little bit of group photo fun!

The ladies.

And the men.

Kevin, Paco, Charlie, Raul, Lalo, Enrique.

The whole gang!

We decided to teach them a game. We carry around the dice from the game Left, Right, Center which is a nice easy game to learn, and also fun for a large group. I was a little unsure of my abilities to be able to explain the game in Spanish, but I did pretty well. Good thing it's a simple game!

With that many people, it went on for a long time! But everyone had fun. Ruth ended up being the winner, and was handed a nice shot of tequila to celebrate!

A good time was had by all... what a fun group of people!

End of another great day in Mexico!
