We've done this route before, the last time was with some of our RV Caravan group on New Year's Day 2020.
Back then, there were nine of us, but this time it was just Ruth and I.
Cows, and the first viewpoint.
There are several new residential areas starting up.
View of Valle de Juarez.
The first time we were here in 2009, this was a dirt road.
The reservoir at Valle de Juarez.
Ruth and a big bougainvillea bush.
Up in the mountains, there are quite a few lots for sale, and quite a few nice cabanas being built.
Another big development.
We remember when they were starting to build this five years ago.
We had done this entire route in the little blue car in November 2012!
Starting to get a little higher up now.
Made it to El Tigre at 12 noon.
So, we made it to El Tigre in two hours and forty minutes. 12 kms and 2,500' altitude. Not bad for a couple of 63 year olds! Other than taking photos and having a slurp of water, we didn't take any breaks.
Street sign in El Tigre.
We sat here for twenty minutes and had a snack.
Heading uphill again out of El Tigre.
It's so pretty up here.
The only problem with this area is that Mazamitla is a bit of a tourist town, and one of the "attractions" is the availability of rental ATV's and 4x4's. This is one of the roads that they frequent.
This is the highest point on the route, and there's a nice view.
Five years ago, there was nothing up here, but now it's a stopping place for the ATV'ers.
Nice view.
As we get closer to Mazamitla, there are a lot of nice weekend homes likely belonging to wealthy people from Guadalajara.
You can just barely make out the Colima Volcano in the distance.
It's about 85 kms away as the crow flies.
We made it to Mazamitla at exactly 2:00pm. We had done 20 kms (12.5 miles) in four hours and forty minutes with only a twenty minute break along the way!
Sue and Roy met us in Mazamitla and we went for shrimp tacos! They sure did go down good with a cold beer!
Back at Igor, there was some more progress. I had asked them to make the seam where the molding was a little less visible, although I was probably being too fussy. I was in the auto collision and paint business for almost twenty years (a long time ago!) so it's hard not to be too fussy while also taking into consideration how little we are paying to have this done!
They were hard at work.
You'll notice in the photo above that the kitchen vent hole is still not filled, however by the time we returned at 6:00pm or so, they had fiberglassed the opening. We're still not convinced that they'll actually get it painted today, which was supposed to be the day it was ready, but if it doesn't happen until tomorrow, it really doesn't matter.
