Back to Mazamitla

There is a restaurant in Mazamitla called "La Troje". We've been there many times, and have never had a bad meal. We've never been there for breakfast, but Sue and Roy have and they highly recommended it. So the four of us hopped in their car and we went to Mazamitla for breakfast.

And it was exactly as good as we were expecting.

Scrambled eggs with chorizo, chilaquiles, and refried beans.

Ruth and I each had the same thing, and we shared a large fresh orange juice. Total bill including tip was 370 pesos ($25.75 CAD, $17.80 USD) for the two of us.

From there, we went to the central area to get some more cash. We've been going through the cash lately, and even though Mexico is still cheap compared to Canada, 5,000 pesos doesn't last as long as it used to! Plus, we will have to pay for Igor's paint work next week, and that will be in cash.

The streets of Mazamitla.

Mazamitla has a beautiful church in the central area.
Notice the deer statue.

It is decorated entirely with thousands of tiny beads!

Can you imagine how long it took?!

Inside the church.

Another street in Mazamitla.

I bought a cheap bottle of scotch.
Only 140 pesos ($9.75 CAD, $6.75 USD), and it's perfectly drinkable.

Today is Saturday again already! It's market day, which also means it's carnitas for lunch day!

And in Canada...

  1. I always forget what that kind of beaded art sculpture is called, so I once again googled it: Huichol, handcrafted by the indigenous Huichol people of Jalisco. Very, very nice. The breakfast looked amazing too, but you can keep the scotch, Kevin. I don't know how people drink that stuff! ;-)
