Day trip to some different beaches... and some great Starlink news!

Yesterday morning, we hopped in Barb and Mark's pickup truck with Barb and their son Shawn. Mark stayed behind because they were having some work done on their property.

We weren't going far... just a half an hour or so down the coast to check out some different beaches.

But before we get to that, Ruth and I managed to get up at sunrise and head down to our own beach for some exercise before it gets too warm.

Almost sunrise.

The turtles come onto the beach at night to lay eggs.

We didn't see any turtles, but there was a lot of indication of their presence.

One of the guys from the campground was doing some fishing.

He caught this one on his very first cast!

The sky was pretty!

Birds on the beach.

Ruth found a big sand dollar.

Another early morning fisherman.

We ended up doing 5 kms (3 miles). It was a good power walk!

Then after breakfast we went for a drive. First stop was a surfer beach at La Ticla. The beach itself isn't anything special, but the attraction is that it's a good area for surfing.

La Ticla.

It was a bit of an overcast day.

A camper from British Columbia.

And yes, there were people surfing!

La Ticla village.

From there, we went to El Faro de Bucerias. Another little beach community. This spot has a much more attractive beach, and it's good for swimming.

El Faro,.. the lighthouse.

Yes, this is a pretty beach.

There are a lot of restaurants. It gets quite busy here on a Sunday.

The shoreline is rocky... the reason for the lighthouse!

We chose a restaurant and had some food and drink.

Barb looks pretty pleased with her Pina Colada!

Ruth and I shared a plate of garlic shrimp.
It was yummy!

Back home at Rancho B.

We are headed out today. Not going far, just about an hour and a half up the coast to the black beach at Cuyutlan.

Oh... yes, the Starlink news. I signed up to a facebook group for Starlink users in Mexico. It's all in Spanish, which makes sense. Anyhow, yesterday one of the members posted that the Starlink Mini is now availabkle at both Mercado Libre and the Office Depot online site at 4,999 pesos! Not yet showing on the official Starlink site yet though.

So I went on the Office Depot site, and sure enough, there it was! So I ordered it, and it's being sent directly to the Office Depot store in Puerto Vallarta so we can pick it up directly there. We're pretty excited to get one. We will be able to free camp anywhere and be able to be online!

And in Canada...

  1. Gorgeous beach! We have friends in Bucerias (from Canada!) who run a Thai restaurant there - not sure if that beach is in the same area or just has the same name. They previously had a Thai restaurant in Chuburna, where we lived in the Yucatan, and we loved it. We could walk there from our rental home and did that frequently. Yum! Lovely folks. On Starlink, I'm happy for you, but that would be a hard no for me. The Nazi salute was the last straw. :-(

    1. It was definitely a beautiful beach, we really enjoyed seeing it. We are sure that it must get pretty busy there on the weekends and holidays because it is a very protected beach for swimming. No, this is not in the same area as Bucerias you know. The Bucerias you are talking about is north of Puerto Vallarta and we are very much south of Puerto Vallarta. We will make it up there though so we will try to remember to look out for this restaurant and maybe give it a try because we love Thai food.

    2. Great! You can find them on Facebook - Thai Bistro Bucerias. Tell Kullanit (she will wait on you if you go) that Emily & Barry sent you! Her husband Steve is the chef. I'm envious if you do get to pay them a visit!

    3. I marked the restaurant on my map and if we happen to be in that area in the evening then we might just give this place a try, no guarantees though.
