News reports say that it was a 6.2 magnitude.
Our friends Barb and Mark who were on one of our RV caravans are currently on the coast in that area, perhaps only about 30 kms away from the epicenter. She says they felt it very strongly, along with lots of aftershocks so they got very little sleep after that. Fortunately, they are also in an RV, which is likely a pretty safe place to be during an earthquake.
We are located at the blue dot.
That's actually the second time we have felt an earthquake while staying at Valle de Juarez. And we felt a major one while we were in Turkiye as well.
We had a fun day with gang yesterday. First, it was market day in Valle de Juarez, so we went in to get our fruits and veggies. It was raining on and off... definitely the worst weather we've ever experienced in this area.
Who knows what is in all these bags??
Besides fruits and veggies, our friend Chema runs a restaurant in town, and he does carnitas every Saturday. We bought 1/4 kilo for takeout, which includes the meat, tortillas, and salsa so that you can make your own carnitas at home.
Chema, getting our meat ready, with Aron in the background.
While we were there, it started raining harder so we decided to sit down in the restaurant until the rain lightened up. Chema's son Christian offered us each a shot of mezcal to warm us up! Then Chema gave us each a taco... no charge. They always look after us so well!

Slightly more expensive than five years ago, but still very reasonable here in Mexico.
All of this for 265 pesos ($18.45 CAD, $12.80 USD, £10.50).
We relaxed back at the RV park for a couple of hours, then we all piled into Igor and drove up to the Punto Marino seafood taco restaurant up near Mazamitla where we met up with Sue and Roy. It is definitely convenient having a smaller rig that is easy to hop into and go for a drive.
The shrimp tacos are just as good as they were the last time we were here.
Washed down with a cold Pacifico beer. Yum!
Afterwards, Sue and Roy invited us over to their place for happy hour and dessert. Last year, they moved to a rental house outside of town.
This bourbon is really nice!
Friends Mona and Roger, and Owenita and Aron are moving on today, so we'll be saying goodbye shortly. We are going to hang around here for a few more days and spend some time with Sue and Roy.
