Igor is finished, and we are off to the coast today!

For anybody just checking in, Igor spent Monday to Friday parked at a body and paint shop here in Valle de Juarez, Jalisco, Mexico.

We wanted to get the fiberglass cap painted. They removed the striping and molding, smoothed out the seam under the molding, removed the awning brackets and filled the holes, and filled the kitchen exhaust vent hole on the other side.

Here is the finished product!

For comparison, here is what it looked like before...

We are totally happy with the way it turned out, especially considering the price.

It's not perfect. The color match is not exact, depending on the angle you look at it. And there are a few minor imperfections. But it's honestly better than I expected.

They had originally quoted 4,500 pesos, but he had misunderstood that I wanted the vent opening filled on the driver's side. So that was another 500. Plus, we gave them a 500 peso tip. Having been in the business for almost 20 years, I know what kind of work is involved with doing this, and I honestly felt they deserved more. The guy was pretty happy.

So, we paid 5,500 pesos ($390 CAD, $271 USD) in total. Still, really cheap. I bet it would be five times that in Canada.

So, with that done, we are off to the Pacific coast today. About a four hour drive down to Rancho B RV Park where we will visit with Barb and Mark who were on the big Yucatan caravan that we led in early 2018.

We were happy to spend one more day with Roy and Sue...

One last ussie with Roy, Ruth, and Sue.

Ruth made us all chili con carne for dinner, and Roy made us each a nice sundae for dessert!

Yum!

Once again, we've really enjoyed our time here in Valle de Juarez. But as always, no matter how much we like a place, after a couple of weeks we are ready to move on!

And in Canada...

  1. I think the paint job turned out really nice! From the photo, it appears to be a better color match than before, and nice and even, no extra striping or logos you didn't need. And the price was definitely right.
