And as much as we love it here, after a few weeks, we're ready to go somewhere new.
So yesterday, we puttered around getting things ready to go. Did some laundry and washed the bedding. And topped up the tire pressure.
We're going to hit the road around 9:00am, stop and fill up Igor's fuel tank on our way out of El Arco, and take the cuota (toll road) leading out of the valley. We took the free road when we came down here at the end of November, but it's in really bad shape, so we'll pay the money for a smoother ride up.
We're heading towards Valle de Juarez, Jalisco. It's about 500 kms (300 miles) west of here, but it's going to take us a week or so to get there! Our planned drive for today will take us to a cave we want to see, where you can apparently overnight in their parking lot. It's about 115 kms (71 miles) from here.
Besides getting ready to go, we also did a long 9 km (6.3 mile) walk yesterday. Just along the lakeshore road that leads to the dam. Didn't make it as far as the dam, but pretty close.
There was actually a bit of cloud in the sky yesterday.
Beautiful views of La Peña.
Someone built this huge monstrosity.
It might be some kind of hotel, but there were no signs.
Oh, and we're looking forward to a small reunion of sorts! On Monday, we're meeting up with Roger and Mona, and Aron and Owenita... two of the couples that were on our last Mexico RV caravan trip. We're going to meet them at a campground a little bit north of La Barca, and spend a couple of days there. Then, the six of us will arrive at Valle de Juarez where we will also meet up with Roy and Sue! Should be fun!
It's time to hit the road!
