So, what are we thinking of having done to Igor?

Our friends headed out yesterday morning, so we're on our own here at the RV park in Valle de Juarez. We'll still be seeing Sue and Roy over the week though, in fact we might even be staying with them for a couple of days while Igor gets some work done!

All depends on if we decide to get the work done, and how long it might take.

Aron and Owenita, and Roger and Mona headed out about 10:45am. They weren't going far... only to Chapala.

After lunch, Ruth and I took a walk into town...

The water level is about average.

There is a new statue by the malecon.

And the central plaza has been renovated. 

Pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon.

We stopped into a pharmacy and stocked up on both my blood pressure and my cholesterol medication. 117 pesos ($8 CAD, $5.50 USD) for about a six week supply. Can't beat that!

So, what are we thinking of having done to Igor?

Well the body and paint on the factory Ford van section is in really nice shape overall. But the Airstream fiberglass cap is badly faded, and the stripes are in very poor condition. We don't really care about having the stripes replaces right now, but are thinking about having the stripes and molding on the cap removed, and the cap painted so that it is the same color as the lower main body.

You can easily see the difference between the main lower body and the upper cap.

And it doesn't need to be perfect. Just so that it's shiny and better than it is.

Our original thinking (and still in mind) was that having something a little less flashy draws less attention. But I'm finding that because of the oxidation on the upper cap, when it rains or has condensation that drips down onto the main body, it leaves a stain. The stain comes off with some rubbing, but it would obviously be better if it didn't stain.

Anyhow, Sue and Roy know someone in the area who they have dealt with in the past with their own van, so we're going to drive over this morning and see what the deal is. If the price and timing is right, we'll leave it with them and have it done, and stay with Sue and Roy for a couple of days.
