Mine had exactly the same issue last November, and I ended up buying a new one then.
These are the laptops that we had bought in Norway in July 2022. So almost exactly two and a half years ago. You'd think a laptop should last longer than that, and they should... however it seems the "average" is 3-5 years, and we use our laptops a lot. So it would make sense that ours would wear out closer to the lower end of the range. But still, I would have thought it should be longer.
We took Ruth's laptop over a nearby repair guy, and he said it's the cable between the screen and the base that is the problem, but that it can't be repaired and it would need a new screen. Exactly the same problem mine had. He said a new screen would be about $100... but he can't get one.
We decided it best to simply buy a new laptop. The nearby Office Depot had a similar one on sale... online only. So I ordered it online, and received notification an hour and a half later that it was ready to pick up. The store is only a ten minute walk away, so now Ruth has a new laptop.
Now, the pain is getting her old files transferred to the new laptop. We'll go back to the repair guy and see if he can do it.
The beach at Puerto Vallarta.
Yesterday was my birthday lunch! A few days late, but I wanted a plate of my favorite meal... enchiladas de pollo con salsa verde (chicken enchiladas with green sauce). I had found a well priced restaurant that got great reviews, but it was only open for breakfast and lunch, so we went yesterday for lunch.
It was delicious! Exactly what the doctor ordered.
Afterwards we went for a walk down to the gulley where we saw the crocs the other day, but we walked all the way through to the beach.
A baby croc... he was only about three feet long.
Lots of turtles.
An iguana and a turtle.
Don't forget to look up! A big bee hive!
And another iguana.
We've actually enjoyed our time here in Puerto Vallarta, but we mentioned to each other yesterday that we're starting to feel ready to get going. By the time Sunday rolls around, it'll be time!
Oh, I never mentioned that we're heading back to Mexico City next month from March 9-12. Another long time friend of ours from Canada will be there with his wife, so we're going to meet up.
