February Expenses... pretty good, except...

We actually had a pretty good month when it comes to our expense report. The only thing that put us over was Ruth's new laptop.

Otherwise, we actually would have been slightly under budget.

It's not very often we come in under budget because I purposely make our goal for the month to be on the low side to give us something to strive towards. So, at the end of January, I said that I thought we might spend $2,000 CAD for the month of February.

Well, it turns out that we spent $2,421 CAD ($1,675 USD), but that includes Ruth's new laptop.

We started the month of February at Playa Tenacatita, spent two weeks in Puerto Vallarta, then ended up in Etzatlan.

Here is our driving route during the month of February...

Here's how it all broke down... (note, the following figures are all in $CAD)...

Fuel: Since we really didn't drive very far, we didn't spend much on fuel. Still, we put $224 worth of gasoline in Igor. Fuel is expensive in Mexico, and Igor uses a lot of it!

Toll Roads: We did not take any toll roads during the month of February.

Propane: We did fill Igor's propane tank... cost was $16.40!

Groceries: Not bad, at $275.69. Of course we did eat out a fair bit too. See the next category...

Meals Out: Again, not bad at $192. Considering a chunk of that was at a tourist restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, I think we did really well.

Alcohol: One of our lowest months in a long time. We spent $67, but it's a bit deceiving because we had stocked up on wine during January and our January expenses were high in this category. Also, Ruth cut her consumption to weekends only so that helped as well.

Miscellaneous: This is where we went over budget. Ruth's laptop gave up, so we needed something quickly. I still think we got a decent deal on it, at $619 CAD ($428 USD), but it did put us way over budget in this category. We also paid our monthly Starlink contract at $115, and of course the typical miscellaneous laundry, clothing, medication, etc. Total came to $913.

Entertainment: We spent $4.87 on our tickets to the circus!

Overnight: We did three weeks in campgrounds that came to a total of $629. The other week was free camping.

Motorhome: $98 is the monthly amount we spend averaging out all of the registration and insurance costs we incurred for Igor. They were all paid for last year, but we average out the expenses to give a more realistic look at our costs.

So, a total including the laptop of $2,421 CAD ($1,675 USD)m but without the laptop it would have been $1,802 CAD ($1,247 USD)

Not bad.

We have a budget of $2,200 CAD ($1.522 USD) for the month of March. A little higher than normal because we are doing another three day weekend in Mexico City to meet some more friends!
