Into the town of Etzatlan

Sunday morning we walked into town. We just have to cross the main highway, then it's about a 20 minute walk on a cycling/walking path to get to town.

We just wandered around, then found a spot to have lunch.

The cycling/walking path was an old railway line.

It's a nice walking path.

There hasn't been a train on these tracks for a long time!

This is the show we want to go to on Friday.

It's fairly expensive though, at 600 pesos ($41.75 CAD, $29.35 USD) per person. It's not something we would normally do, but my mother gives us Christmas/Birthday money each year, and we normally spend it on something that we wouldn't normally do. This seems like a perfect fit!

There is lots going on in town this weekend!

Pretty traffic circle.

This little guy sure is happy!

Etzatlan is famous because of the crochet canopy above the streets by the plaza.

It's really pretty and all done by hand.

And it's a world record!

There is also a pretty papel picado.
Normally made of paper, but this one is plastic.

The main church in town.

We sat and watched the world go by for a half an hour.

Ussie in the central plaza.

Decorated all pretty.

Friends Mona and Roger, and Owenita and Aron had been here  few weeks ago and recommended a popular grilled meat restaurant. They do a mixed grill that probably has enough food for four people, but we figured we would just bring home what we didn't eat.

Chicken, ribs, and chorizo.
Always tastes better when you use rebar skewers...lol!

With rice, salsa, refried beans, and of course fresh handmade tortillas (not shown).

420 pesos ($29.25 CAD, $20.55 USD), but we were stuffed and we have enough leftover for lunch for the two of us today.

Back at Igor, we sat out and played backgammon.

The chickens came by to say hello.

There is a very handsome rooster here as well as four friendly dogs. I'll try and get a photo of them one day!
