Whenever we have stayed in this area in the past, we went to the Rancho Alta Rosa RV Park which was run by a Canadian couple from Alberta. I think the first time we stayed there was in 2011, and then several times since.
But during Covid Garry and Jean sold the property that the RV Park was located on, and only kept a small land holding that included their house. So they are pretty much retired now, and just enjoying life! But despite the RV Park being closed, we wanted to visit with them.
The RV Park was located about 2 kms from the farming town of Valle de Banderas, so we would stay there and take the local bus into Puerto Vallarta.
This time, we were doing it in reverse!
It was about an hour and a half bus ride, and when we got off the bus in town, we started walking the 2 kms or so to their house. But we only took a couple of steps when someone yelled "hey, do you want a ride?".
It was Garry with his brother who is visiting. So we hopped in the truck with them. Got to the house where Jean was waiting and settled on the porch and had a good visit getting caught up on things. We even managed to solve all the world's problems. Since they are Canadian as well, we specifically focused on Canada's problems! Glad we got that all fixed.
Kevin, Jean, Garry, and Ruth.
The afternoon flew by, and before we knew it, it was time to get on the bus again for the hour and a half ride back.
We were the first ones on the bus.
The bus cost 27 pesos ($1.90 CAD, $1.30 USD) each for the hour and a half ride.
This clown (?) got on and started making balloon dogs for everyone.
Ruth got one and gave it to a very happy little girl when we got off the bus.
We had dropped off a load of laundry on Saturday and it was ready to be picked up. All washed, dried, folded, and wrapped in plastic... the cost was 23 pesos per kilo, and our bill was 80 pesos ($5.50 CAD, $3.90 USD). Now that's the way to do laundry. Have we mentioned how much we love Mexico?
In yesterday's blog post I mentioned that we were looking for somewhere to go when we leave Mexico in early May. Thanks so much for those of you who mentioned some great ideas, both here and on our Facebook Page.
Nothing written in stone yet, but my sister Elaine suggested both northern Spain and Scotland. We had already thought of Scotland ourselves since we had wanted to go there with our last motorhome Max, but never made it. And Spain would be a great start since we can fly direct from Mexico City.
We already have an interview for a three week house sit in Scotland in June, so we'll see how that goes.
