The price of eggs

We puttered around for the morning, then after lunch we walked inland to the Pitillal neighborhood to the laptop repair shop we had stopped in at the day before.

We got the data transferred to Ruth's new laptop, and ended up leaving the old one with him to see if the screen problem can actually be repaired rather than replacing the screen.

The problem lies with the cable that attaches between the screen and the base. Anyhow, he's going to look at it and get back to us. In the meantime, her new laptop is now set up the way she wants it, so we're fine if he says it's not possible.

From there, we went and did some grocery shopping. We went to the big La Comer grocery store which typically has higher than average prices, but we were walking right by it. This time, we managed to get a couple of deals!

My favorite cheap Scotch!

Old Smuggler has been difficult to find this year. And when we have seen it, it's been over 220 pesos. But this time, they had it for 169 pesos ($11.75 CAD, $8.30 USD). What a deal! So I picked up a bottle.

The other great deal was a couple of dozen eggs. Yes, we know that the price of eggs has been all over the news, especially in the United States. Here in Mexico, eggs are not that expensive to begin with, but they are never this cheap! La Comer had them on sale for 22 pesos ($1.53 CAD, $1.08 USD) per dozen. So we picked up two dozen eggs!

And, Ruth was going to cook some chicken for dinner. But we passed a busy roast chicken place and bought one to go for 225 pesos ($15.70 CAD, $10.55 USD). It came with potatoes and tornados (a rolled stuffed tortilla) so Ruth only had to do up some veggies. And it was a big bird so we'll get a couple of meals out of it, and some soup.

Delicious! I was stuffed!

Today, I am excited to get our Starlink Mini up and running. Hopefully the palm trees don't interfere with the operation too much, although I'm expecting that they will. We'll see!
