They sold our Starlink!

On Sunday, we did the 102 km (64 mile) drive from Tomatlan to the big tourist city of Puerto Vallarta.

You would think that would take an hour and a half or so, but it took us two and a half hours!

Between the topes (speed bumps) and the baches (potholes), it was pretty slow going. Then, as we got about 20 kms from the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, we got stuck behind a slow moving RV caravan from Quebec!

But, we eventually made our way through to the center of the city to the El Pescador RV Park. It's a fairly big RV Park with probably 40 sites, but it's pretty quiet with maybe only 15 sites occupied.

Lots of greenery and palm trees.

But, like many RV parks, the electricity is sketchy. The two plugs at our site aren't even working. One outlet is melted, and the other reads 5 volts! Fortunately, we don't need to be plugged in, although with the shade we won't get much sun into the solar panels so I might have to run an extension cord eventually and plug in the battery charger.

And of course being right in the center of Puerto Vallarta, it's not cheap. The daily rate is 525 pesos per night (for perspective, most RV parks in Mexico are now between 300-400 pesos) and the weekly rate isn't much of a saving at 3,300 pesos.

But again... location. We are only 1 km from our friends resort so we'll get to see them a couple of times while we're here.

So, we paid for one week at 3,300 pesos ($231 CAD, $158 USD) and we'll likely stay a second week.

Once we got settled, we walked over to the Office Depot where our new Starlink Mini satellite internet hardware was supposed to be waiting for us to pick up.

I showed the girl the notification on my phone, and she went and got some paperwork that had all of my order information on it. She asked for ID, and went in to the backroom. And we waited. Eventually, she came back with a manager guy who spoke quite good English. He said there was a problem... they mistakenly sold our unit to someone else!

I appreciated them being honest and admitting the mistake. And fortunately this is not a major problem. We have lots of internet data available on our Freedom Mobile cell phone plan, and we have a strong AT&T signal here in the city. And we are going to be here for two weeks. so provided they can get us another one during that time frame it's fine.

And worse case scenario, the Home Depot here in Puerto Vallarta is now showing 50 of them in stock! So we'll get one eventually.

My long time friend Jeff is here in Puerto Vallarta with his brothers at a one week all inclusive and we're looking forward to going out for dinner with them this evening.
