We are open to suggestions!

We had a nice relaxing day yesterday.

The main priority of the day was to get some more cash. We had to pay another 3,300 pesos ($230 CAD, $160 USD) for our second week here at the RV park in central Puerto Vallarta.

We had tried at a Citi Banamex location on Saturday on the way back from the circus, but for whatever reason my Wise ATM card wouldn't work. Citibank charges a fairly low 31 pesos ATM fee. We have two other ATM cards that we use, but Wise charges no fees for the first transaction every month that is under $350.

So we walked over to a big Soriana grocery store to pick up a few things and the big grocery stores in Mexico always have a few ATM machines. Sure enough, there was another Citi Banamex machine, but it wouldn't work for me either. Strange. The other machine was a Scotiabank, but that's our last resort because even though there are no ATM fees, they charge a 2.5% foreign exchange fee.

But Santander bank also charges a low ATM fee, at 34 pesos, so we walked over there and the Wise card worked fine.

One thing about being in the city, there is lots of choice.

Oh, the big Soriana store has a sale on booze. Buy 2 bottles, and get a third for free. Imagine a liquor store in Canada doing that! But, we don't have the storage space to take advantage of a deal like that. We did manage to get a 1 liter bottle of Kahlua for 169 pesos ($11.75 CAD, $8.20 USD), and 12 beers for 110 pesos ($7.65 CAD, $5.35 USD). What a deal!

Otherwise, we didn't do very much. I wasted a bunch of time trying to buy an extension cable for our portable solar panel, but can't find one in Mexico and am having a difficult time trying to get it shipped here from Amazon.com. I may actually buy some wire and splice it into the current cable to make it longer.

Where to go...?

I also spent a little time trying to figure out some future travel. Our six month Mexico tourist visa expires May 9th, and while that's still three months away, at least we can start checking airfares for where we might want to go. The plan is that we will leave Igor parked at Valle de Bravo, and return in October to carry on south into Guatemala. But the question is, where do we want to go for the summer?

Keeping in mind that we want to be in Ottawa area in September.

We are open to ideas and suggestions!!

    1. Yes! We had already thought of Scotland, and we think it's fairly high on the list!

  2. Saint Helena Island in the middle of nowhere. Getting there appears to be a real adventure. Or, China.
