Still early, so the beach vendors were only just getting set up for the day.
Lots of no-see-ums and sand fleas though. Despite the fact that it's a pretty beach, we couldn't stay here for more than one night. We were getting eaten alive. I honestly don't understand how people can spend any length of time here.
The beach at Tenacatita.
It's a popular spot for cruisers to anchor.
We walked over the hill (there was no gate) following a very rough road up and over. You'd almost need four wheel drive.
And what did we see over the other side?
This is an Okanagan unit... Igor's cousin!
Okanagan made these vans in British Columbia in the early 1980's before Airstream got involved. Okanagan made them under license for Airstream during the '89 model year, then Airstream bought the design and moved production to Jackson Center, Ohio. Okanagan continued to produce their own version right up until 2002.
The beach on the other side.
Ruth, enjoying the view.
You can see Igor in the distance.
Not much room for many RV's.
Rocky shore.
That's a pricey looking boat!
Pelicans.
The beach at Tenacatita.
We got packed up and headed further north. We were supposed to go to an attraction called La Copa del Sol, but there is a gate house there now and the guy said there is no access. So we continued on.
And, we also passed right by Punta Perula. We've actually had enough of the beaches for now... and the bugs! So we headed inland to the non tourist community of Tomatlan where I had read about a pleasant spot by the river.
Always nice to see the good guys out patrolling.
Scenery along the way.
As we entered Tomatlan there was a group of young people raising money for their music group.
We always give a few pesos.
The road that leads beside the river.
I had parked at the turnoff to this road and when in doubt I always walk it first to make sure that the spot is worth getting to and that there is somewhere to turn around.
We headed down here to the riverside.
Yep, this will do!
A great overnight spot at GPS 19.948487, -105.25079
There was a fair bit of trash around, so I set about to clean things up. While I did, I came across an odd item...
It's the tail of an armadillo!
The river looking east.
And looking west.
There's an actual road the crosses the river near us. It's pretty rough, so I don't think it gets used very often. And actually, two different vehicles drove down into the river just to wash their cars!
This one guy comes down, drives in, and gets stuck. I was pretty sure it was a four wheel drive when it went in, but he got stuck... so maybe I was wrong. Anyhow, he sat there and spun his wheels for about five minutes. Then, it went quiet, but when he started up, he walked right out of there... obviously in four wheel drive mode. No idea why he sat there spinning his tires for so long!
Spinning his wheels!
We sat out in the shade for the afternoon.
Another totally quiet night.
Today, we drive into the big tourist city of Puerto Vallarta! We will be visiting friends who are on a one week all inclusive vacation, and we are staying at an RV Park right in the center of the city.
Oh, and I posted our January expense report last night... you can read it here... https://www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2025/02/january-expenses.html
