Moving on to the Primavera Biosphere Reserve

We tried to get going by 9:00am yesterday morning, but it was almost 10:00am by the time we said goodbye to Bonnie and her daughter Sam. We always love visiting this area at Etzatlan.

Then, we had to go into town and fill Igor's fuel tank. And pop in for some groceries. Then finally hit the road!

We weren't going very far though.

Bonnie, Sam, Ruth and Kevin.

Saying goodbye to the pups.

Blue doesn't want us to leave.

Oh, we wanted to show you a neat little cabin they are building here at Campadritos. It's an old grain storage bin that they have repurposed into rental accommodation...

How cool is that?

It's not finished yet, but it should be ready in a couple of weeks. Then you can find it for rent on Airbnb!

They also have this nice little cottage available on Airbnb.
You can find it if you search for "Etzatlan".

Bonnie had recommended this butcher, and it was really busy... always a good sign.

We only had about an hours drive to the Primavera Biosphere Reserve... a big protected forest area just west of Guadalajara. They have some rough camping areas without services, and entry for camping is only 100 pesos ($7.00 CAD $4.75 USD) for two people and vehicle.

It's apparently quite busy on a weekend, but during the week it's very quiet. Igor found himself a nice spot with no neighbors at all, although there is hardly anybody here in the first place.

And we have a nice shaded picnic table to use as well.

The bathroom building is nicely decorated.

There are several hot springs in the area, and one of them is at a balneario (swimming pool) that is located inside the park. There is also a hot springs river that you can walk to, and we'll do that today.

Yesterday, we walked over to the hot springs pool just to check it out.

Some of the pools are only open on the weekend.
Ruth, checking the water temperature.

Jaws!

The main pool.
I stuck my hand in... warmer than bath water! I would have no problem getting in.

But, they want 150 pesos per person which is good if you're going to spend the day there. We just want to go for a dip, so we'll hike over to the river today and see what it's like.

Great campsite!

I don't think I'd want to be here on a weekend, but during the week it sure is peaceful. You'd never know that we're only 25 kms (15.5 miles) from the center of Guadalajara!

In fact, we're going to stay another night. We have to be in San Miguel de Allende by Friday, but it's only about a six hour drive, so we've got time.

Great deal on this Shark Corded Stick Vac.

And in Canada...
