Really fantastic views... and Igor handled the mountain roads with no problem at all!
We took a lot of photos along the way...
This was just before we started climbing.
They must have some kind of water source in this valley.
Scenery along the way.
We love this kind of scenery!
On the right is the road we came up on.
Another curvy road.
Yikes!
There are several little villages up here.
We had started the morning at 1,370 meters (4,500') and climbed up to 2,600 meters (8,500'). A noticeable change in temperature from 28C (82F) to a much more comfortable 22C (72F).
There are several options for RV parking up here, but most are geared towards smaller rigs, or even tent camping. One of them really intrigued me, and it was the most expensive option.
A year ago, they had built one of those glass bottomed lookouts. And there is also a cave to see. They charge 90 pesos entrance fee per person. Camping is 250 pesos per person, but that includes the lookout (mirador) and the cave and overnight.
So it's 500 pesos (35.70 CAD, $24.95 USD) for the two of us to see the attractions and stay overnight.
We stopped at the entrance and I got out and talked to the girls at the gate who collect the money. They said something about the cave being closed due to a problem with the steps. Okay, we've been in a lot of caves. But the main reason to go was the views.
So we paid the 500 pesos and started up the narrow 2 km track.
Good thing it wasn't busy with vehicles coming the opposite way!
Bathrooms with a view!
It is definitely really pretty up here!
We were getting tired of being in the city.
Now this is more our style!
The view out our side door.

Wow. Fantastic views.
Can you see the glass platform?
So beautiful.
Ruth, gingerly making her way onto the platform.
It is rated for 14 people maximum.
Looking down.
Looking right.
And looking left.
It wasn't busy, so the girl attendant offered to take our photo.
Walking on the sky.
As we were heading back to Igor, I spotted this cool little lizard.
We've never seen one like it. It is a Yarrow's spiny lizard!
He was so colorful!
Blues, browns, and yellows.
Back at Igor, we were just relaxing when a car went by... and then another, and another. The place had not been busy at all... up until then we might have seen four other people in total!
Maybe ten vehicles went by one right after the other, and you could tell it was some kind of political thing. Tinted windows, Starlink on the roof, etc. Then the guy who runs the place drove by us, but he stopped and put his window down... apologizing for the commotion.
The Governor for the State of Queretaro wanted to view the mirador.
When the cars all left, one guy in the fanciest SUV had his window down, and waved and said good afternoon to us. I looked up on the internet who the Governor was, and sure enough, the photo matched the same guy!
Mauricio Kuri Gonzalez
I checked some of the news outlets in the evening, and he had been doing a promotional tour up here for a new public transportation system for the mountain communities.
Our drive since we left Guanajuato.

Nice price drop on the Garmin vivoactive 5 Smartwatch.
Those were impressive views from the Mirador.
