So much to see in Mexico City

A company had sent me full access to walking a tour app for free, so we decided to try it out here in Mexico City. One of the tours was to an area called Polanco, which is an upscale neighborhood that has world famous brands, and pricey international restaurants. 

Not really our style to hang out in places like this, but it was a part of Mexico City that we had never been to.

Gotta start off the day with the included breakfast at our hotel...

It was a 6 km walk one way to the start of the 3 km walking tour. So we knew this was going to be at least an 18 km (11 mile) day.

We walked along the main drag in the Polanco area, but we really weren't thrilled. At the end of the walk, there is a shopping mall filled with very expensive shops, and one of them was a liquor store that happened to have a pricey bottle of tequila that I had had a taste of a few months back. I wanted to bring a bottle to my guys weekend away in September.

Ruth was looking for a pair of walking shoes.

But she wasn't about to pay 5,000 pesos ($354 CAD, $246 USD).

Ruth did end up buying a pair of walking shoes, but they were only 1,200 pesos ($85 CAD, $59 USD). Good thing too, because the sandals she was wearing ended up breaking a strap, and she had to use her new shoes!

I looked up the story behind this...

The statue was a gift from the United States to Mexico, presented by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966. The statue represents the shared democratic values and historical ties between the two nations.

We met up with our friends Dave and Maggie again, and went and had a nice drink at a patio, and I also passed him my expensive bottle of tequila and he is going to bring it back to Canada for me so that we can share it with my buddies in September.
