Solar panel job complete, and Ruth gets a new phone

I got up on the roof around 9:00am to finish up the work on the solar panels. I had already reported to you that I had installed the two new 100 watt panels, and they are working perfectly. 

However, I had tested the old panels, and it seemed that one of them was still putting out enough that it was worthwhile to keep it... so I put it up on the roof and did a couple of tests before mounting it permanently.

And sure enough, it was worth keeping.

Reading 10.1 amps at 10:30am.

And after 12:00pm, with the sun higher in the sky I actually saw it reading 12.4 amps. With the two old panels, the highest I had ever seen it was 5.5 amps.

So we now have more than double the solar output than we have had since installing those panels back in August. Very pleased.

We were going down to meet Doug for lunch, and we stopped in to look at a cell phone that we had looked at a couple of days ago just to confirm the price wasn't associated with a contract of any kind.

And it wasn't. It just seemed like too good of a deal, but the guy said it was a liquidation, it was cash only, and they only had two left in stock.

We decided to go for it. It's from the same manufacturer as my expensive phone... Honor. It's one of their low end models, but it gets really good reviews for a budget phone. The Honor X7A.

We paid 1,650 pesos ($117 CAD, $82 USD).

I actually think it's a better phone than the last one Ruth bought that was 50% higher in cost.

With that done, we went for lunch.

A little higher priced, at 140 pesos ($10 CAD, $7 USD) per person, but really good food and we wouldn't need much dinner.

Our friends Gregg and Janet who we had seen last week in San Miguel were going to come and visit us here today, but unfortunately she's not feeling well and they've had to cancel. We're going to do one last wander around town to see what there is to see, and then tomorrow we're off to Dolores Hidalgo, and then the Sierra Gorda mountains.
