In fact, I looked up the blog post from that day and I had said "Pretty sure we'll bump into each other again at some point in the future. You never know where or when though!"
Well it turns out that the when was yesterday, and the where was right here in San Miguel de Allende.
The streets of San Miguel.
Heading downtown.
I wanted to get some cash, and so we went to the main Santander Bank in the plaza. It's a large branch, and they have five ATM's. Four of them were out of service, and there was a gringo lady at the fifth one and she was having problems with her PIN. She gave up, and I tried but didn't have any luck either. Welcome to Mexico!
I ended up going to a Citibank ATM later on, and it worked fine.
We met up with Gregg and Janet and had some lunch in the market, then began a self guided walking tour on the GPS My City app.
We went through the artisan market.
Lots of stuff going on in this shop.
I love this dude!
San Miguel had a lot of churches.
The ceiling at the book store at the library.
In the cultural center there is this odd art display.
Ruth and I had been in this room in December of 2012. I thought it was different back then, but we checked the photos and it was the same other than a wire sculpture at the end of the room.
The guard comes over and asks for my phone and tells us where to stand and starts taking photos and videos with my phone. It was pretty funny, and he was very animated and excited about it.
The four of us in the empty room.
Here is one of the videos he took...
Me, with a funny statue.
Really recommend this art store. they have a lot of stuff from different regions of Mexico.
It is called Marquesa de Mancera on Cuna de Allende 3.
Ussie in San Miguel!
Kevin, Ruth, Gregg, Janet.
One of the many interesting doors in San Miguel.
Scenery along the way.
More street scenes of San Miguel.
Don't forget to look up!
You might see an egret in a tree!
We stopped in at a rooftop patio and had a drink to end the afternoon.
It was a bit of a high end place!
Another door.
What a fun afternoon we had. And we're going to meet up with them again in Guanajuato next week!
Speaking of Guanajuato... gotta get going. We are headed over there shortly, about an hour and a half drive drive.
