Back to the doctor, and arrived at a great campground!

Our break in the city of Ciudad Valles went well... we got a lot accomplished. The hotel was a bit of a bust... for 780 pesos ($56 CAD, $40 USD). I know, that sounds cheap nowadays, and it is. But the mattress was lumpy, the towels were almost worn out, the shower head needed replacing, and the drain needed cleaning. On the bright side, the WiFi worked well, the air conditioning worked well, and the parking was good for Igor.

Oh, and the location was right in the center.

We had dropped our laundry off Monday when we arrived. A bit pricey, at 180 pesos ($12.75 CAD, $9.25 USD), but that included bedding. So not bad, really.

Tuesday morning, we went and did some stocking up at the market.

We love shopping at the market!

The chicken guy.

The fish guy!

The cantaloupe guy!

Ruth's cough wasn't getting any better, and we are headed out to the middle of nowhere for the next week and a half or so. So we figured we had better get it looked at.

There was a small medical clinic across the street from the laundry, so when we went to pick up the laundry, we popped into the clinic. It cost 100 pesos ($7 CAD, $5 USD) for a consultation with the doctor. She was a young woman, and she was pretty thorough! She thinks Ruth has a lung infection, and we had to pick up a bunch of drugs. Hopefully we'll see some improvement in the coming day or two as the medications kick in.

And then we hit the road. Our destination was the town of Tanchachin, near the Tamul Waterfalls.

This valley has a lot of these big flowery trees.

We arrived at Campamento Tiempo y Espacio and were welcomed by Moises. He and his wife Lucy run this small campground, and it gets great reviews. In fact, our friends Roger and Mona, and Aron and Owenita had stayed here last November and they had recommended it to us.

They have these nice little outdoor kitchens that we can use.
All for 200 pesos ($14 CAD, $10 USD) per night!

It's a really nice spot, so we'll probably stay three nights. The only downside is the weather. You can tell that the dry season is ending, although the rainy season typically doesn't begin until mid May. And in this area, it's definitely more humid. We're almost at sea level as well, and the daytime highs are around 35C (95F) with overnight lows around 24C (75F). With the increase in humidity, it's too hot for me.

We're going to spend three nights here, then head through the mountains towards Valle de Bravo. It will be a few degrees cooler in the mountains. We want to be in Valle de Bravo by month end, which is only a week away. Then on May 4th we go to Mexico City for our flight to Spain May 5th.
