That was an adventurous day!

We waited until after lunch to pay our 150 pesos ($10.15 CAD, $7.20 USD) per person entrance fee to the Puente de Dios waterfall.

It sounds expensive to see a waterfall, but you also get to swim at the beautiful pool, and they've got it all set up with ropes to hang onto and they even have lifeguards and changerooms and lockers etc.

We're glad we waited to do it during the week. There's really not a ton of space and if it were on a weekend it can get really busy.

The main swimming area at Puente de Dios.

Ussie at the overlook.
Yes, it is mandatory to wear life jackets.

We decided to explore a little bit before getting in the water.

Looking down at the gorge.

The water is crystal clear.

Another swimming area.

The main waterfall.

There are smaller waterfalls everywhere.

And another one.

We hiked up to a small cave. I took a video for you... turn up your volume...

Bats in the cave.

Ruth in the cave.

I had put my phone inside the waterproof case, so we could take some videos and photos while swimming. The photos didn't turn out great, but the videos were clearer than I expected.

There is actually quite a current, so they give you ropes to hang onto.

Quite a lot of water, even in dry season!

Ruth.

I took another video for you!

Fun in the water!

The waterfall.

Water everywhere!

Water coming right out of the ground.

Water dripping.

Me!

I took another video... this one is swimming through the cave.
Very cool!

Then we took a path upriver to the source. Where the natural spring comes up through the ground. It was a bit of a letdown because they've tapped into it to supply water to the town, which of course I get. But they could have designed it a bit more aesthetically pleasing!

I didn't actually take a photo of all the pipes and concrete. I did get one photo that shows the water though...

You can see how clear the water is.

So, that was a fun and adventurous afternoon playing in the water! Today, we are taking a detour into the city of Ciudad Valles (pop 180,000) to see if we can get Igor's squeaky u-joint fixed.

And in Canada...

  1. That looks like a blast - gorgeous clear water and lovely nature all around you! You didn't mention how warm the water was, but I'm thinking pretty balmy, knowing that you (Kevin) doesn't like cold water - I'm the same.

    1. It really was a ton of fun, we totally enjoyed our afternoon hiking around and swimming around. The colour of the water was gorgeous and where it wasn't deep it was a clear as a bell. I thought the water was a perfect temperature but Kevin thought it was a tad cool when he first got in but found it turned warm very quickly. I just checked on the internet and it says that the water there is 30 C (86 F) all year round.
